So your baby has turned into a teenager. It is both an exciting and scary time for the both of you. Teens today face much the same and hugely different things then we did in our teens. They are faced with a world of computers that have dangers lurking in the cyber world. They feel the need to pierce every know body part, and some that we wish they did not know!! They die their blond heads inky black, and wear belly shirts that show the latest ring that adorns the button that you found so cute! The latest craze in teenage land is the tattoo. What use to a bikers thing is now the cool kids idea of “body art”

And let us not forget the sex issues that are in some way the same as when we were teenagers but ..now they seem far more dangerous then just getting pregnant. The STD’s ( sexually transmitted diseases) list seem longer and far more scary then I remember. And now with the laws that say a parents job is to guide and not disapline their child…what will the future hold for the youth that are just starting out in the adult world.

Are you aware that unlike days of old when smoking was the shocker to teenagers parents, now they must be faced with dirty piercing needs, infections from the same, and the tattoo parlor that offer discounts to teens… one only need wonder why? And how can one artist offer the same tattoo at half off… there is HIV, Hepatitis, Aides and a number of other issues that can be the result of one prick of the wrong needle.

Teens today are faced with so much more then the world gives them credit for. I look at the teenagers of this world and silently breath a sigh of relief that I am not one of them.
